How Gen Z is shaking up the bridal fashion scene 👀

Welcome to The Toast, your new go-to weekly newsletter for all things wedding. Each week, we'll dive into the latest trends, share tips, and bring you a variety of stories to inspire you from your engagement to your big day.

I’m writing this week’s post from my honeymoon! After doing a buddymoon right after our wedding with friends, we’re finally taking our honeymoon 6 months later. I’ll be sharing more about it soon! 🫶🏼

This week, I’m sharing a wedding trend I’m personally loving, tips from a wedding photographer, and how Gen Z is shaking up the bridal fashion scene.

🥂 Cheers lovers,

Michelle

👗 Revealing Dress Drama: One Reddit user sparked a debate after telling her brother's fiancée that her wedding dress might be too revealing for their conservative family. What do you think? Was she just trying to help or was it not her place to say? Let’s take a poll…

Was she overstepping or just looking out for her?

🐪 Wedding by the Pyramids: This wedding might have been a few weeks ago, but it's still making waves on social media. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll definitely want to check it out! At first glance, it looked like an AI-generated graphic, but nope—just a real-life example of how money can buy just about anything! 😅

👰‍♀️ Gen Z Brides Break Tradition: Gen Z is shaking up the bridal fashion scene! Instead of sticking to traditional boutiques and stores like David’s Bridal, these brides are hunting for unique, personal styles outside the usual bridal market. Any white dress is fair game, making wedding fashion more diverse and individualized than ever!

A Real-Life 'Bridgerton' Wedding: The 7th Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, recently married Olivia Henson, now the new Duchess, in a wedding that has everyone talking! Olivia looked stunning in a gown by British designer Emma Victoria Payne, featuring hand-drawn embroidery inspired by her great-great-grandmother. The ceremony took place at the historically significant Chester Cathedral, a venue deeply tied to the Duke's family.

🤠 Western Country Wedding 🤠

One of the hottest wedding trends right now is the Western country wedding. Couples are opting for ranch and barn venues to create a rustic, Western vibe for their big day. This trend embraces elements like cowboy hats, fringe, denim, and earthy tones, making both the venue and the fashion unique and memorable. Couples can choose to embrace this theme for one or all of their wedding events, whether it's just for the welcome party or the entire wedding day.

Ideas to Incorporate:

  • Attire: Think fringe jackets, flowy skirts, bolo ties, and turquoise jewelry.

  • Decor: Use subtle Western details like gingham, hay bales, and wildflowers.

  • Activities: Incorporate activities like a charming outdoor cocktail hour with signature drinks, a casual hoedown with live country music, or a cozy bonfire with s'mores and storytelling.

  • Venue: Choose locations with dramatic landscapes, like Jackson Hole or private properties in Aspen.

“I regret this”

"I regret hyper-focusing and stressing the small details, a lot of them I didn't notice, nor did my guest. It was not worth additional stress, planning and effort.”

“I'm so glad I did this”

“I am so happy we chose to lean into Armenian traditions on our wedding day. We had a traditional Armenian ceremony in the church, entered the reception with a live Armenian music and dancing, and had Armenian Mezze at cocktail hour. Our guests LOVED it!”

3 Tips for your big day

  1. Secure Your Necklace with Eyelash Glue: Worried about your necklace shifting during the big day? Apply a small dab of eyelash glue to keep it in place. This trick ensures your necklace stays put for hours, giving you one less thing to worry about!

  2. Trust Your Photographer: Your photographer is your guide to capturing perfect moments. Trust their expertise in choosing locations, determining the best time of day for the shoot, and guiding you through poses. Their skillful editing will enhance your photos, making them look stunning.

  3. Position Speakers Next to You: For speeches and toasts, have the speaker stand next to you. This setup allows them to look directly at you, resulting in more engaging and heartfelt photos. Plus, it ensures you are included in these memorable moments. ❤️
